Michigan State football has made a serious impression on four-star running back Ronnie Walker as the Spartans have cracked his top two.

It’s been a rough couple of classes for the Michigan State football staff in regards to landing a running back. That may all change as the Spartans are becoming instant favorites for four-star Ronnie Walker from Hopewell, Va.

The Virginia-native was on campus this past week and he seemed to have a good time. If he were to pick Michigan State, he would be just the second running back pledge for the Spartans in the last three classes.

According to an interview with Luke Srodulski of Land of 10, Walker enjoyed his visit to East Lansing last week and it was enough to land the Spartans in his current top two.

"“Michigan State and Indiana,” Walker told Land of 10. “Those are my top two schools right now.”"

Walker went on to say that he thinks the Big Ten is a running back conference and he likes Michigan State’s coaching staff as well as the pro-style offense. He may not have mentioned it, but he would also have a chance to play as a true freshman in 2018.

In fact, it’s widely believe that LJ Scott will be moving on to the next level after his junior year and Gerald Holmes is also graduating. That leaves Madre London and likely redshirt freshman Weston Bridges to carry the load. Walker would be a nice change-of-pace back. He’s smaller than what Michigan State is used to at the position, at 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds.
