Sure, it’s tough to get up for the 2017 season after such a turbulent 2016 campaign and even more horrid offseason. Let’s just say things haven’t gone Michigan State’s way since the 2015 Big Ten Championship Game when LJ Scott crossed the goal-line for the game-winning score.

Since then, it’s been off-field issues and a 3-9 season. However, it’s time to move forward as the program may have trimmed some fat this offseason, although the sexual assaults were much more damaging than just attrition.

Mark Dantonio has said he’s ready to move forward and get back to the basics, and so the fans should be looking forward to positive change.

Need more of a reason to get excited? Just watch this quick hype video and then tell me you’re still not excited — I’ll gladly call you a liar.

Despite the offseason issues, Dantonio is ready to lead this program back in the right direction and the way the head coach handled all the adversity could be a refreshing sign of things to come.

Heck, college football season is the best time of the year and even if the Spartans aren’t considered favorites to win the Big Ten in 2017, the team should be far better than the 2016 version. Moreover, doesn’t Michigan State always fare better as an underdog?
