Michigan State football has received a commitment from three-star 2018 outside linebacker Jeslord Boateng.

The seventh player to commit to Michigan State football’s class of 2018 came in the form of a three-star linebacker on Monday. Jeslord Boateng, a future member of the all-name team, chose the Spartans on Monday night, turning down nearly 20 other offers.

Boateng’s commitment comes just a day after visiting East Lansing for the first time. He joins five other Michigan State commits for 2018 from the state of Ohio. Guys like Trenton Gillison, Xavier Henderson, Michael Dowell and Ed Warinner have all been components of the Ohio to MSU trend.

Moreover, Boateng posted a message on Twitter about his commitment, saying that it’s been a dream of his to play Big Ten football since he was in seventh grade.

Growing up in Dublin, Ohio, there’s a good chance Boateng was raised as an Ohio State fan. He never received an offer from the Buckeyes and liked what he saw from his visit to Michigan State and talk with the coaching staff that he wasn’t going to wait and wish for an offer.

Although he’s not the biggest linebacker, he’s quick. He’s a track star and ran an 11.22 100-meter dash recently. Put that type of speed in the middle of the defense and you have a scary athlete.

Boateng is ranked the 1,037th-best recruit in the class as well as the No. 75 outside linebacker, according to 247Sports. He picked the Spartans over offers from the likes of Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa, Louisville, Pitt and Syracuse.
