Michigan State recruiting will soon know the fate of five-star small forward target Brian Bowen.

Reigning from Saginaw, Mich., Brian Bowen has been around the Michigan State basketball program his entire life. He grew up watching the Spartans, following his relative, Jason Richardson, closely and even developing a relationship with Tom Izzo at a young age.

On Saturday evening, Bowen will choose to follow the path he grew up eyeing or forge his own at another top-tier program. The five-star small forward has announced via Twitter that he will make his decision on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.

If you had asked me five months ago, Michigan State would have been my pick. He grew up in the area, was close with former players as well as Izzo and had talked about how he’d like to play with Miles Bridges.

Well, Bridges shocked everyone by returning for his sophomore year and that may have opened Bowen’s eyes when it came to thinking about where he’d earn the most playing time. The only uncommitted five-star has since widened his search for a destination in 2017-18.

Louisville has become the latest team to enter the race and the Cardinals seem to be making a serious push. There are even rumors that he had already enrolled at Louisville following his weekend visit.
