Redshirt freshman wide receiver Cam Chambers is primed for a major role for Michigan State football in 2017.

Michigan State football’s Cam Chambers was the first member of the 2016 class to commit and stuck to his word when 2016 National Signing Day arrived. He had many significant offers from the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and more than 40 others.

The sharp, smooth wide out from Sicklerville, N.J., is 6-foot-3 and just over 200 pounds. He was part of one of the most celebrated receiving classes that Mark Dantonio has ever brought in. He was one of four four-star commits in the 2016 class.

Chambers will have an opportunity to seize some much-needed playing time this fall. He performed admirably in the green and white game despite a few drops. He and sophomore quarterback Brian Lewerke will need to work on their chemistry to be lethal to opponents. He has excellent speed, but more quick than fast. His body is more filled and college ready then the other receivers in the 2016 class. He will be able to muscle and overpower smaller defensive backs.

The young wide out has great acceleration out of the gates and was able to give cornerbacks a ride as he fought for more yards. He has the concentration to make the difficult catch and Spartan fans will most likely witness more 50-50 balls to him. Lewerke has some weapons around him and he will have to figure out how to take advantage.

Expect a big season from the talented redshirt freshman.
