After being charged with criminal sexual conduct, freshman defensive end Auston Robertson has been dismissed from the Michigan State football team.

Strike one came in the months leading up to his freshman season at Michigan State. However, Auston Robertson would not be given a third chance by Mark Dantonio as he was dismissed from the Michigan State football team on Friday.

After it was announced he’d been charged with criminal sexual conduct following an April 9 incident, Robertson was let go by Dantonio and the Spartans, marking the second run-in with the law he’s had in just over a year.

The head coach released this statement on Friday afternoon:

“Sexual assault has no place in our community. While there is an ongoing criminal process, we’re extremely disappointed that Auston put himself in this position. He is no longer a member of our football program.”

Those are the words that Robertson will probably remember forever and something that will stick with him as long as he’s trying to get his life back on track. He made a huge mistake and you have to give props to Dantonio for making the right choice and not allowing him back.

For a program that had been deal with a separate sexual assault, you would think the players would have been smarter. However, just a week after the spring game, which he participated in, Robertson made his biggest mistake yet.

Dantonio put his foot down and proved that he’s a no-nonsense guy. Let’s hope he’s the same way with the punishments regarding the other sexual assault case, if proven guilty.
