A top Michigan State recruiting target for 2017, Blake Harris, has just committed to Missouri.

Just one day after Mark Smith’s official visit concluded in East Lansing, Michigan State recruiting received some news. However, it wasn’t about the recent visit, but rather one that was supposed to take place this coming weekend.

Four-star point guard Blake Harris was expected to visit Michigan State on April 13-14 officially and then follow that up with another visit before making his final decision.

However, the former Washington commit verbally pledged to Missouri during his visit. This doesn’t come as the biggest surprise, though.

In fact, former fellow signee Michael Porter Jr. also left Washington for Missouri a couple of weeks back after Huskies head coach Lorenzo Romar was fired. The nation’s No. 1 recruit has since been in contact with Harris to join him at Missouri with new head coach Cuonzo Martin and he decided to do just that on Sunday.

While Harris would have been a nice addition to the Spartans’ 2017 class, there are three recruits who are currently valued more than him on the board. Brandon McCoy, Brian Bowen and Smith are all priorities while Harris would have been the second option if the Spartans couldn’t land the latter.

Still, Harris is one of the most explosive players in the 2017 class at the point guard position and Missouri is going to be a tough team to beat in the SEC next season. On to the next one for Tom Izzo and Michigan State.
