Former Michigan State basketball star Bryn Forbes had his best career game with the Spurs on Friday night.

In fact, the first-year player out of Michigan State scored a career-high 27 points and dished six assists, shooting 10-of-19 from the floor. He didn’t just shoot threes, though. Sure, he did make four long balls, but he showed aggressiveness, driving to the bucket on occasion and even creating his own mid-range shot off the dribble.

Check out some of his highlights here:

This isn’t Forbes’ first extended action of the season, though. He has played at least 20 minutes in three of the Spurs’ last four games, averaging 14.3 points in those three contests. He’s also distributing the ball well in those games, averaging 3.6 assists.

There will always be a spot in the league for sharpshooters and Forbes showcased his skill on Friday against the Mavericks. While he may not earn extended time during the playoffs, he may be setting himself up for a regular rotation role in 2017-18.

Forbes scored 20 in the first half and the Spurs came away with a 13-point win. Although he’s only playing because San Antonio has locked up a playoff spot, he’s still doing himself favors, creating future opportunities. Tom Izzo would be proud.
