Michigan State recruiting picked up a big commitment from four-star Dearborn Divine Child quarterback Theo Day on Sunday.

Just hours after a huge win for the Michigan State basketball team, four-star football prospect Theo Day committed to the 2018 class. He’s considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the country and was on an unofficial visit Sunday to check out spring practice and the basketball game with Mark Dantonio.

Commit watch was on all day as it seemed as if the quarterback from Dearborn was close to giving his pledge, and that turned out to be true.

Day announced his commitment to Michigan State via Twitter on Sunday evening, giving Spartan fans some much-needed good news following a tough couple of weeks.

The commitment from Day marks the fourth Spartan to verbally pledge to the 2018 class, although Joseph Scates might not be as solid as the others. He commits to Michigan State just a week after his teammate, Aidan Hutchinson, gives his pledge to Michigan.

Xavier Henderson and Trenton Gillison are the other two commits in the class and both could potentially be weapons for  Day in the 2018 class.

This was a huge get for the Spartans as Day is the top in-state quarterback and he’s the fifth-best prospect in Michigan for 2018. He’s also ranked No. 196 overall and the eighth-best quarterback in the class, according to 247Sports.

Day also held offers from Boston College, Kentucky, Minnesota and Missouri as he’s one of the fastest-rising prospects in the class.
