Michigan State basketball picked up its first win over Nebraska in East Lansing since January of 2013.

Looking to get back on track after a loss to Purdue Saturday, Michigan State basketball picked up a big win over Nebraska in East Lansing (for the first time since 2013) on Thursday evening. It wasn’t pretty early on, but the Spartans started playing like a team, putting together a 21-7 run to end the first half.

The second half was much of the same dominance as the Spartans won by 16. The four freshmen played arguably their best combined games of the season, racking up 64 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists and six steals.

How did the rest of the Spartans fare on Thursday night? Alvin Ellis III and Tum Tum Nairn both added seven points and Kyle Ahrens was a pleasant surprise off the bench with six.

Three Stars

Nick Ward had a rough start from the floor, but finished off with one of his best games of the year, scoring 20 points to go along with nine rebounds and a block.

Miles Bridges also had a solid game, making 8-of-12 shots from the floor. The Izzo voiced their pleasure after his first-half alley-oop and begged for him to stay one more year. He had 20 points and five board with two blocks.

Josh Langford had one of his best collegiate games and he filled in nicely for Eron Harris. He scored 17 points to go along with five rebounds and two steals. Was this his breakout game?
