Michigan State recruiting will be getting a big visit from four-star offensive tackle Antwan Reed from Muskegon this weekend.

After moving home from Bradenton, Fla., where he spent a season playing for the prestigious IMG Academy, Antwan Reed is getting accustomed to the in-state programs again. In fact, the Muskegon-native is planning a trip to East Lansing this weekend.

Not only will the four-star tackle be in town for an unofficial visit, but Reed is bringing Muskegon High teammate Eli Jackson, an unrated 2018 defensive tackle, with him.

Reed wasn’t exactly a name high on the Spartans’ 2018 list a few months ago when he was down in Florida, but when he moved back to Muskegon, that seemed to change. While we don’t know what goes on behind the scenes, it has to help the Spartans’ chances now that he’s about 115 miles from campus instead of a plane flight away.

Michigan State needs to attack the offensive line with top in-state recruits from the 2018 class as guys like Tyrone Sampson Jr., Marquan McCall and Ryan Hayes are all in the mix as well.

Jackson, on the other hand, has had a very quiet recruitment, but he most recently visited Penn State officially, but has yet to receive an offer.

As for Reed, he’s ranked the No. 294 overall recruit and 23rd-best offensive tackle in the 2018 class, according to 247Sports. Michigan, Penn State and Virginia Tech all seem to be high on him as well, and vice versa.
