Michigan State unranked in USA Today/Coaches Preseason Poll

Michigan State finished their 2012 campaign with a 7-6 record and a 17-16 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl victory over TCU, the Spartans were not ranked in the USA Today/Coaches Preseason Poll, released on Thursday.

Five other Big Ten schools were named to the preseason poll: Ohio State (No. 2), Michigan (No. 17), Nebraska (No. 18), and Wisconsin (No. 23).

TCU also made the list at No. 20 despite losing three out of their last four games. In addition to, losing against the Spartans in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl the Horned Frogs lost their regular-season finale on Dec. 1 against the Oklahoma Sooners and the Kansas State Wildcats on Nov. 10, both games were at TCU.

Spartans’ head coach Mark Dantonio will begin his seventh season at the helm with a three game home stand starting on Friday, Aug. 30 against Western Michigan.
