Green and White Today: Michigan State Spartans News for February 5, 2013

Last night, the Michigan State women crushed the Michigan Wolverines, but there’s been a lot more going on in MSU news over the past weekend. Also, please take note that National Signing Day 2013 is tomorrow, and I’ll be here updating about the official signing status of the next class of Spartans football players. Without further pause, here’s the Michigan State Spartans news for the week.

  • The Michigan State Spartans beat the Michigan Wolverines in the Play4Kay Pink game. At the end of the first half, MSU had a 7-point lead. During parts of the game, the East Lansing team was up by as much as 20 points. The game finished at 61-46, making it the Spartans’ 12th win in a row over the Wolverines.
  • Sunday’s wrestling match against Minnesota resulted in a 32-6 loss for the Michigan State team. It was definitely a tough match for the Spartans.
  • Saturday’s women’s tennis matches were both wins. The women won 7-0 against both Cleveland State and Toledo in two separate match-ups. The men weren’t quite as lucky, and they lost 4-3 against Princeton.
  • The ice hockey team lost both matches against Michigan. Friday night’s game resulted in a 3-2 loss against the Wolverines. Saturday night’s game resulted in a 5-2 loss. The Michigan offense was just too much for the Spartans.
  • Friday’s gymnastics match against the Minnesota Golden Gophers was a loss for the women at the Jennison Field House.
  • The men’s wrestling team lost against the Nebraska Huskers Friday nigh as well.
  • Thursday night spelled wins for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The men’s basketball won 80-75 against the Illinois Illini. The women’s basketball team won 67-62 against the Northwestern Wildcats.
