Michigan State leads in the first half: 36-30. There were a lot of turnovers, and early on in the game, every time Michigan State scored, Purdue was right there behind them answering with their own layups. Three pointers were the key to the MSU lead; Gary Harris scored 11 points in the first half. Travis Trice has also stood out with eight points, three rebounds, a steal, and two assists. These two have been tearing up the court.
Derrick Nix also had his hand in point-making for Sparty’s team. Unfortunately, Branden Dawson was having some trouble near the end of the half getting the all into the net, missing out on eight points, which would have created a larger gap between the two teams. However, he assisted Valentine to getting that last-minute point.
Valentine and Appling have also held their own in the first half. The team has banded together quite nicely with the five starters. Let’s keep cheering for them and see how they hold their own in the second half.
