The Spartans are trucking along – the basketball team has seen a few recent victories, the wrestling team has been filled with unsung heroes, and the football team is readying itself for the BBW Bowl happening on December 29th.

  • The Spartans Men’s Basketball Team beat Bowling Green last night for a 64-53 win. Once again Gary Harris and Denzel Valentine lead the team, scoring 12 points each.
  • The Michigan State women’s basketball team will play Oregon State tonight and Texas Tech Thursday night in Las Vegas for the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic.
  • The Michigan State hockey team will hold a meet and greet event at Suburban Ice – Macomb where players will shake hands and sign autographs on December 28th.
  • The Spartans spun forward to another win at the Jenison Field House game, lots of glitz and glamour surrounded the commemorative game including a concert by the Commodores and honoring of Tuskegee Airmen on Saturday Night.
  • Michael McClure was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week when he took first place at the Reno Tournament of Champions last night; this follows the same honors presented to him November 13 of this year.
  • The university celebrates forty years of women’s sports under the Title IX Legislation
  • Freshmen Lisa Burt and Nicola Deans have been placed on the Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch list; the gymnastics team is scheduled to begin its regular season against Western Michigan January 12 at the Jenison Field House.
  • Ex-Spartan Kirk Cousins makes headlines again throwing for 329 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Washington Redskins to their fifth straight victory against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
