At the end of the first quarter, the Spartans are down a point at 6 to Minnesota’s 7. Highlights from the first quarter include senior Dan Conroy making 2 out of 3 field goals, and Minnesota scoring a touchdown on an interception return. Early in the game, Michigan moved the ball swiftly down the field, and although they scored the first three points, they were unable to get the ball into touchdown position. While in the Gopher zone, Maxwell’s pass was intercepted, and Minnesota ran it in, bringing the team into the lead, 3-7. Junior Le’Veon Bell ran the ball 40 yards before he was finally brought down. MSU scored on a second field goal bringing the score to 6-7. The team has been strong when it comes to their defense patterns, but to win, the Spartans will need to up their offensive game. Let’s hope they can keep this up. It’s still anyone’s game.
