Dan Conroy misses a field goal in the last seconds before halftime in the final game for himself and twelve other Spartan teammates. The first half of the game held a lot of low-scoring action, with two plays within reach of the end zone squandered away in the last moments. Le’Von Bell lost the ball in the first quarter when he was within scoring range. Northwestern came back with a field goal, bringing the score to 3-0. The first quarter finished with Michigan scoring on a safety.
Although Conroy made the first attempt at a field goal early in the second, the second quarter wasn’t much better for the Spartans. Northwestern’s Jeff Budzien scored a second field goal, bringing the lead to 6-5 Northwestern.
