Joe Cox Commits, Chooses Michigan State Spartans Hockey For Fall 2013

Cox joins Stenglein and MacEachern as 2013 forward recruits.

The 18 year old native of Chelsea, Michigan is currently serving as team captain for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL. There he has 11 points in 15 games this season.

Cox is a classic  grinding forward. He’s an effective penalty killer and shot blocker, and loves to get to the dirty areas of the ice. His fierce competitiveness and hardworking style will bring energy to the Michigan State lineup night in and night out.

Cox and current Spartan defenseman Travis Walsh, were also teammates last season in Muskegon.

He played for Team USA in the 2010 and 2011 European Tournaments, and captained the 2011 USA Team at the Ivan Hlinka Tournament.

The additions of Cox, Stenglein, and MacEachern, show that Head Coach Tom Anastos is committed to continuing  the Spartans physical style well into the future.
