Lawrence Marshall (Southfield, Mich./Southfield) received a scholarship offer from Michigan State during his visit for the Nebraska game last weekend.
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound defensive end was able to talk with coach Mark Dantonio during the visit, something several recruits do not get to do because of time constraints.
“He told me that he’d like to offer me a scholarship to Michigan State,” he said.
Asked what type of football program he he would prefer playing for and he said he would like to play for a big school like the ones in the Big Ten. Although he is interested in Toledo, it doesn’t sound like the Rockets have a shot at landing him.
He is a 2014 recruit, so bigger schools will continue to learn more about him and see how physically gifted he is at the defensive end position. Some of those bigger schools are already showing him interest and would him to visit their programs.
“I’m also getting interest from Ohio State, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, UCLA, USC and a couple more,” he said, “and I plan on visiting some of these schools over the winter.”
Marshall currently holds offers from Bowling Green, Indiana, San Diego State and Toledo. He has also drawn interest from Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Syracuse, among others.
He scheduled a visit to Toledo for Tuesday, but was unable to make it to the Rocket’s matchup against Ball State. He plans to reschedule for another time and maintains that he has a close relationship with the coaching staff.
