Local: Western Michigan downed by Northern Illinois 48-34

Western Michigan outscored Northern Illinois 21-17 at halftime, but the Huskies rallied back by scoring 28 points in the second half, beating the Broncos 45-27 at Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich.

NIU quarterback Jordan Lynch completed six of 10 passes for 64 yards, two touchdowns and ran for 71 yards on 11 carries.

Northern Illinois (8-1, 5-0 MAC) will host UMass at Huskie Stadium next Saturday and Western Michigan (3-6, 1-4 MAC) will travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to take on the Central Michigan Chippewas, its instate rivals.
