It sure was a glorious day in Mount Pleasant, Mich. for Dan Enos and his Central Michigan Chippewas.
The Chips beat Akron 35-14 in a game that was only close during the first quarter.
Quarterback Ryan Radcliff completed 15 of 25 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Stud running back Zurlon Tipton had a career day, rushing the ball 37 times for 243 yards and three touchdowns. He also had one rush that went for 72 yards. Receiver Titus Davis caught four receptions for 112 yards and two touchdowns, and Cody Wilson, everyone’s favorite scrappy wide out, caught five receptions for 23 yards.
Zips quarterback Dalton Williams completed 31 of 51 passing attempts for 329 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Conor Hundley rushed for 92 yards on 17 carries, and Jerrod Dillard nabbed seven receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown.
On defense, CMU picked of Akron twice. Jahleel Addae and Lorenzo White each picked off Williams.
Central Michigan (3-5, 1-3 MAC) will play its instate rivals Western Michigan next weekend at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant.
Akron (1-8, 0-5 MAC) will travel to Kent, Oh. to take on the Golden Flashes at Dix Stadium next Saturday.
