Jerry Palm of CBS Sports projects Michigan State football to play against Baylor in the Meineke Car Care of Texas bowl held on Dec. 28 in Houston. This bowl game matches up the No. 6 Big 12 team against the No. 6 Big Ten team, which says a lot about Michigan State. The Spartans are currently the eighth best team in the Big Ten, as far as conference record goes, and it would be amazing if MSU could finish sixth overall at this point in the season. It’ll be difficult for the Spartans to garner enough wins to get into that spot because the football program will travel to Wisconsin next weekend, host Nebraska and Northwestern and then travel to Minnesota to take on the Golden Gophers. Michigan State might get a win against Northwestern and should be able to beat Minnesota, but I don’t think that is enough to move into sixth place of the Big Ten. Not to mention its only good enough to get six wins and become bowl eligible by barely. The only thing going for them right now is the fact that Ohio State and Penn State is ineligible to earn a bowl bid, so that will catapult the Spartans into the conversation.
