BTN.com: No Michigan State football players worthy of a game ball in Week 8

No Michigan State football players made BTN.com’s U.S. Marines Corps: Leaders of Week 8 list this time around. It does not come as much of a surprise because the Spartans lost on the road to Michigan 12-10 in a final second heartbreaker. However, Wolverines linebacker Jake Ryan was highlighted as BTN.com’s third best player of the weekend, as he recorded 10 tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble and a sack. Writer Brent Yarina wrote the following about Ryan’s performance against MSU:

Is a second consecutive Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week in the cards? It could be, as the standout linebacker continued his incredible play in Michigan’s 12-10 victory over Michigan State, its first win in the series since 2007.

Unfortunately for the Spartans, no Michigan State football players made the honorable mention list either. U-M safety Jordan Kovacs (five tackles, one interception), Brendan Gibbons (3 of 3 in field goal kicking) and Denard Robinson (14 of 29 passing, 163 yards, one interception and 20 carries for 96 yards rushing) were all named on the list of eight honorable mentions.

Would it be fair to assume that no Michigan State players make it on this list next weekend since Michigan State is traveling to Wisconsin to take on a much more talented foe in Week Nine?
