Michigan State football: No Big Ten teams in top 25 of Harris Poll

Sunday is the debut of the first BCS Top 25 Poll and a key ingredient to figuring out how each team is ranked is by plugging the Harris Interactive Poll into its equation. The Harris Poll is made up of 115 voters who submit weekly ballots.

The problem with this week’s poll is that no Big Ten teams made it into the top 25. Michigan was 16 votes away from earning the No. 25 spot, but the Wolverines will have to wait another week to get ranked by Harris Poll voters. Ohio State is ineligible to receive votes because of its bowl ban. Michigan State received 21 votes this week, which is surprising because Iowa, the team that beat Michigan State last week, did not garner one single vote.
