Illinois at No. 25 Michigan — Michigan didn’t have any trouble quickly putting away Illinois on Saturday, as the Wolverines were able to get two backup quarterbacks reps in its 45-0 beat down on the Illini.
Denard Robinson threw for more yards (159) than Illinois gained in total offense (134) all day. Robinson also added 11 carries for 128 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Backup running back Thomas Rawls carried the ball nine times for 90 yards and a TD, trumping the 62 yards that starting tailback Fitzgerald Toussaint recorded. No Michigan receiver caught more than one ball, but nine different players were able to make a reception in the game.
Illinois was plagued from the get go. Starting quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase suffered a head injury and was not allowed to return to the game, which forced Illinois to use backup Reilly O’Toole. O’Toole completed five passes for 25 yards and an interception.
Michigan (4-2, 2-0 Big Ten) will host Michigan State Oct. 20 at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.
