Michigan State football had luck on its side last weekend when the team came back from a 17-point deficit to beat Indiana on the road 31-27. This Saturday the Spartans will have the Big Ten Network on its side, as two of BTN.com’s bloggers picked MSU to beat Iowa.
Here is what the two bloggers wrote on Thursday:
Iowa (3-2, 1-0) at Michigan State (4-2, 1-1) – noon ET, ESPN
Tom’s pick: Michigan State, 21-20 – The Spartans will win this slugfest in the fourth quarter and will see their defense score a touchdown—or at least set up a score—that will prove to be the difference.
Brent’s pick: Michigan State, 23-17 – Welcome to old-school Big Ten football. Between Le’Veon Bell and Mark Weisman, we’ll be treated to more than our share of carries by large running backs.
I’m almost 100 percent positive that the Spartans won’t be in a slugfest with the Hawkeyes this weekend. Iowa is clearly an outmatched opponent on paper and Michigan State is finally showing signs of life on offense. Receivers Aaron Burbridge and Bennie Fowler will help quarterback Andrew Maxwell in the passing game and Le’Veon Bell will always be there to bruise defenders up the middle with his rushes.
I like the Spartans to win by double digits, 28-13, against Iowa at Spartan Stadium this Saturday.
