Local: Western Michigan football destroys UMass 52-14

UMass at Western Michigan football – Tyler Van Tubbergen was able to pass for five touchdowns on Saturday, as Western Michigan put away UMass 52-14 at Waldo Stadium.

Van Tubbergen 23 of 28 passes for 283 yards. Brian Fields carried the ball 11 times for the Broncos, earning 71 yards, and Jaime Wilson hauled in four catches for 88 yards and a score.

UMass (0-6, 0-3 MAC) only gained 218 total yards on the day, and were called for eight penalties that netted 40 negative yards.

Western Michigan (3-3, 1-1 MAC) will travel to Scheumann Stadium to play Ball State next Saturday and Umass will play Bowling Green on Oct. 20.
