Big Ten: No. 24 Northwestern football falls to Penn State 39-28

No. 24 Northwestern at Penn State football– Penn State football was able to come from behind to beat No. 24 Northwestern 39-28 on Saturday, thanks to the help of quarterback Matt McGloin and his two touchdown passes.

McGloin completed 35 of 51 passing attempts for 282 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Zach Zwinack carried the ball 28 times for 121 yards and a score, and stud receiver Allen Robinson reeled in nine receptions for 85 yards and two touchdowns.

Northwestern (5-1, 1-1 Big Ten) was not able to get it done on the road, despite the fact that running back Venric Mark played another tremendous game. Mark rushed for 71 yards and a score on 14 carries, and was also able to return a punt for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Penn State football (4-2, 2-0 Big Ten) will travel to Kinnick Stadium Oct. 20 to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Northwestern will travel to TCF Bank Stadium to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers next Saturday.

    Good for the Penn Staters! They’ve showed a lot of character this season, and to come back against a ranked team is another reason to cheer these young men. I wish them well.
