Michigan State football: Spartan Avenue’s Week 6 Top 25 Ballot

Michigan State football was dropped from Spartan Avenue’s Week Six Fansided Top 25 Ballot, as the team lost its second game of the season, falling to No. 14 Ohio State 17-16. MSU was also the only top 25 program to lose this weekend. The Spartans have a stellar defense and only allowed Buckeyes’ quarterback Braxton Miller’s offense to score two touchdowns. However, the real eye sore for the Spartans is its offense. The passing game looked improved, but the running game was completely shut down. Spartan Avenue expects several AP Top 25 ballots to reflect ours, removing the team from the top 25 entirely.

Stanford dropped nine spots this week because of its 17-13 loss to Washington at CenturyLink Field—home of the Seattle Seahawks. I don’t like to punish teams who lose on the road, but the Cardinal couldn’t find the end zone. Josh Nunes only completed 18 of 37 attempts and Stepfan Taylor couldn’t break the century mark on the ground, rushing for 75 hard-earned yards. Stanford football only scored on defense, as Trent Murphy returned a Keith Price interception for a 40-yard score.

Ohio is the only newcomer into Spartan Avenue’s ballot. Almost everything else stayed the same as last week as far as our ballot goes.
