Big Ten: Purdue football beats Marshall 51-41 behind TerBush, Shavers huge day

Marshall at Purdue football – Despite putting up a 28 point second quarter, Purdue football still narrowly escaped the Marshall Thundering Herd 51-41 Saturday in Ross-Ade Stadium.

In a surprising effort, a Purdue quarterback had an impressive outing, as Caleb TerBush was able to complete 27 of 37 attempts for 294 yards, four touchdowns and an interception. Running back Akeem Shavers continued to impress fans, rushing 25 times for 73 yards and a score, and receiver Gary Bush was able to reel in seven catches for 83 yards and three TDs.

In the end, it was turnovers that completely hindered Marshall’s ability to sneak away with a road win, as the team committed four, three of which were Rakeem Cato thrown interceptions.

However, Marshall receiver Tommy Shuler had a day to remember. He hauled in 19 receptions for 200 yards and an impressive 10.5 yards per catch average.

Purdue football (3-1, 3-0 home) will host the Michigan Wolverines next Saturday in West Lafayette.
