Mark Dantonio names three Spartan captains

According to the Detroit Free Press, Mark Dantonio has tabbed senior linebacker Chris Norman, junior linebacker Max Bullough and junior quarterback Andrew Maxwell as the team’s three captains.

Bullough makes sense as a team captain because of the name reconigition he has on Saturday’s. It also makes sense to name Maxwell a captain now that he has control of former Spartans quarterback Kirk Coursin’s offense. You truly need to be a leader to be a captain in the Big Ten and I believe all candidates named for the job fit the criteria to be one for the Spartans.

Some will notice that defensive end William Gholston did not make the cut as a captain, but let me remind you that each week throughout the season Dantonio names an additional fourth captain, a captain of the week, if you will, to help the other three captains throughout the game week. He will most likely be elected to be one of these type of captains down the road. This is a system we employed at my high school when I was playing football, so I know that it works well.
