ESPN’s college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit, also known as Herbie, released his 12th annual Herbie Awards on Tuesday.

The Herbie Awards are his top-five to top-12 lists of each player position in college football and who he thinks are the most elite players at their positions.

Herbstreit praised the Spartans this season and here is who made his list from Michigan State and where they rank…

Defensive Ends (top-12):

3. William Gholston

Defensive Back (top-5):

5. Johnny Adams

Best Kept Secret (top-5):

1. Le’Vean Bell

Looks the Part (Dressed for Success) (top-5):

1. William Gholston

Throwback Players (Players Who Can Play in Any Era) (top-5):

5. Max Bullough

Ahead of the Curve (top-5):

2. Andrew Maxwell

And after he gave out his list of top-players, he also released his ALL-HERBIE TEAM: What a college football player should looks like. The only player to make that list from Michigan State was Gholston.

Herbie also predicted Michigan State to win the Big Ten Championship this season over Wisconsin.

The awards were given out to exactly who you expected to make such an awards list. Gholston was well-recognized, Adams received the praise most media members think he deserves and a couple of other curve balls were sprinkled into the article as well. I think Herbie’s recognition of the Spartans should be enough to get the fans excited for the season opener against Boise State on Aug 31. because contending for a championship is definitely a possibility this season.

What do you think?
