Wisconsin Badgers guard Jordan Taylor (11) drives against the Montana Grizzlies during the second half in the second round of the 2012 NCAA men

Big day for Big Ten in NCAA tournament

Sure all of the Big Ten teams that won were favored to win Thursday during the second round of the NCAA Tournament, but they did in impressive fashion.

And as we predicted, the Big Ten would do well today.

It might be a sign of what’s to come in the tournament, or, it might just have been the Big Ten’s day. We think it might be a sign of what’s to come with at least one team making the surge to the Final Four.

In the first matchup of the day, Wisconsin absolutely dominated Montana, cruising to a 73-49 win.

What was impressive was that the Badgers were picked to lose the game by many national pundits.

As for Indiana, it too was picked to lose to its opponent, New Mexico State, but that was never in doubt for Indiana fans.

That game was never very close as the Hoosiers went on to a 13-point win.

Ohio State’s game against Loyola (Md.) might not have been the blowout most though it would be, but nine players saw action in what was a pretty easy 78-59 win.

Three more games on the slate tomorrow, including No. 1-seeded Michigan State.

Here are Friday’s games:

  • No. 4 Michigan vs. No. 13 Ohio, 7:20 p.m. ET
  • No. 7 St. Mary’s vs. No. 10 Purdue, 7:27 p.m. ET
  • No. 1 Michigan State vs. No. 16 LIU-Brooklyn, 9:20 p.m. ET
