Wisconsin Badgers guard Jordan Taylor needs to start playing like he did in 2011 for the Badgers to make a run in the NCAA Tournament.: Brian Spurlock-US PRESSWIRE

Big Ten teams start NCAA play today; Are any going to get upset?

Wisconsin kicks off the Big Ten in the NCAA Tournament today with a matchup against Montana. Many national pundits think the Badgers are prime for an upset. We here at SpartanAvenue don’t think so.

Sure, Montana is pretty good, but coming out of the Big Sky Conference isn’t that impressive. They like to shoot the ball and there is very little defense played.

We do think it will be a close game, just because Wisconsin generally doesn’t run away from teams.

If Jordan Taylor can bring back his magic from a year ago with the Badgers, this game should be no problem. However, if the 3s are not falling and the guard play is weak, Montana could make good on all those national pundits picking the Griz to win.

Here are today’s games

No. 4 Wisconsin vs. No. 13 Montana

  • Where: Albuquerque
  • Time: 2:10 p.m. ET
  • TV: TNT
  • Line: Badgers by 8.5
  • Prediction: Wisconsin 65, Montana 55

No. 4 Indiana vs. No. 13 New Mexico State

This game is a lot like the Wisconsin game. And again, many national pundits think New Mexico State is too “athletic” for Indiana. Well, that may be true, but we think Indiana is “too good to lose” to New Mexico State, a team that went 10-4 in the WAC this season, which, by all accounts is not that great of a league.

  • Where: Portland
  • TV: CBS
  • Time: 9:45 p.m. ET
  • Line: Hoosiers by 6.5
  • Prediction: Indiana 72, New Mexico State 65

No. 2 Ohio State vs. No. 15 Loyola (Md.)

This game has no real buzz and we understand why. Ohio State is going to simply dominate from the start, build a huge lead and cruise to a win. It”s that simple.

  • Where: Pittsburgh
  • TV: TNT
  • Time: 9:50 p.m. ET
  • Line: Buckeyes by 17
  • Prediction: Ohio State 81, Loyola 62
