Michigan State drops to No. 12 in latest ESPN/USA Today coaches’ poll

A loss on the road to Illinois last week cost the Michigan State Spartans two places in the latest ESPN/USA Today coaches’ poll, released today. The Spartans are No. 11 in the Associated Press poll.

The Spartans fell to the Illini 42-41 last week, but turned around and beat Michigan, 64-54, on Sunday.

Up next for the Spartans is a home game Wednesday night against Penn State.

In terms of RPI, the Spartans are No. 5 with a schedule strength of No. 2.

That bodes well for the Spartans moving forward as the selection committee will likely hand them a No. 3 seed, if they remain the No. 2 Big Ten team, of course.

Here are the polls.

I don't get the difference between the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' poll and the AP top 25. The 2 lists seem to be fairly similar.
